Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh mint
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup buttermilk
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1 large cucumber, peeled and grated
- 2 tablespoons yogurt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation Steps
- In a food processor, combine flour, parsley, mint, salt, black pepper, cumin, paprika, and garlic. Process until well combined.
- Add chickpeas and process until a dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Using your hands, shape the dough into small balls. Fry the falafel bites until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels and serve immediately.
- In a bowl, combine cucumber, yogurt, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Refrigerate for 10 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
- To assemble, place falafel bite in the center of a plate, top with tzatziki sauce, and crumble pita chips around it.
