Pan-Seared Duck Breast

Ingredients
- 4 duck breasts (6 oz each)
- 1 cup cherry compote
- 1/2 cup port wine
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh thyme for garnish
Preparation Steps
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Season the duck breasts with salt, pepper, thyme, and garlic powder.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the duck breasts for 2-3 minutes per side.
- Transfer the duck to a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until cooked to desired doneness.
- While the duck is cooking, reduce the port wine and cherry compote in the skillet over medium heat until syrupy.
- Add balsamic vinegar to the skillet and stir to combine.
- Once the duck is cooked, let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
- Serve the sliced duck with the cherry-port sauce spooned over the top and garnished with fresh thyme.
