Ingredients
  • 1 package of puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat and cook the chopped onion until softened.
  3. Add the garlic, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper to the skillet and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks, until it is no longer pink.
  5. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.
  6. Cut out circles of pastry using a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass.
  7. Place a tablespoon of the beef mixture in the center of each pastry circle.
  8. Fold the pastry in half over the filling, pressing the edges together to seal the fatayer.
  9. Brush the tops of the fatayer with a little water and sprinkle with parsley.
  10. Bake the fatayer for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
