Ingredients
- 1 package of puff pastry, thawed
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Preparation Steps
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat and cook the chopped onion until softened.
- Add the garlic, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper to the skillet and cook for 1 minute.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks, until it is no longer pink.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.
- Cut out circles of pastry using a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass.
- Place a tablespoon of the beef mixture in the center of each pastry circle.
- Fold the pastry in half over the filling, pressing the edges together to seal the fatayer.
- Brush the tops of the fatayer with a little water and sprinkle with parsley.
- Bake the fatayer for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
