Ingredients
- 2 apples, cored and chopped
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup apple cider
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup bourbon whiskey (optional)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (optional)
Preparation Steps
- In a medium saucepan, combine the chopped apples, cinnamon sticks, brown sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender, about 10 minutes.
- Add the apple cider, ginger, and nutmeg to the saucepan. Stir to combine, then bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Reduce the heat to low and cook, uncovered, for 5 minutes.
- Strain the mixture into a large mug or heat-resistant measuring cup to serve. If desired, add bourbon whiskey and stir to combine.
- If desired, top with heavy cream and stir to combine.
- Serve immediately and enjoy.
- Let the mixture cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve chilled, garnished with a cinnamon stick if desired.
- Consider adding a few slices of fresh apple to the mug for added flavor and visual appeal.
- This drink is perfect for the fall season, but feel free to enjoy it year-round!
