Ingredients
- 1 package of frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1/2 cup of smoked salmon, diced
- 1/4 cup of cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon of Dijon mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon of chopped fresh dill
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh chives (for garnish)
Preparation Steps
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry to a thickness of about 1/8 inch. Cut into small squares, about 3 inches per side.
- In a small bowl, mix together the smoked salmon, cream cheese, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, and chopped dill.
- Place a small spoonful of the salmon mixture onto one half of each pastry square, leaving a 1/2 inch border around the edges.
- Fold the other half of the pastry square over the filling, pressing the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges.
- Brush the tops of the pastry with the beaten egg for a golden glaze.
- Place the canapés on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped chives. Serve warm.
