Ingredients
- 1 cup pistachios, chopped
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dukkah spice mix (see note)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon rose water
- 1 tablespoon honey
Preparation Steps
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a food processor, grind the pistachios until coarsely chopped. Add the flour, cinnamon, cardamom, cayenne pepper, dukkah spice mix, and salt. Process until well combined.
- Transfer the mixture to a bowl and stir in the melted butter, rose water, and honey.
- Layer the phyllo dough on a flat surface, brushing each layer with melted butter.
- Spoon the pistachio mixture onto the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
- Fold the dough over the filling to form triangles or diamonds, and press the edges together to seal.
- Brush the tops with extra melted butter and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Cool the baklava completely before slicing into diamond-shaped pieces
