Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into thin strips
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1 cup sliced cucumber
  • 1/2 cup pickled carrots
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
Preparation Steps
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together yogurt, soy sauce, fish sauce, lime juice, garlic, ginger, turmeric powder, and cayenne pepper.
  2. Add the chicken to the marinade and mix well to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade and cook for 6-8 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
  4. Warm the tortillas by wrapping them in a damp paper towel and microwaving for 20-30 seconds.
  5. Assemble the shawarma wraps by slicing the cooked chicken into thin strips and placing it onto the tortillas.
  6. Top the chicken with shredded cabbage, sliced cucumber, pickled carrots, and chopped cilantro.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy!
  8. Optional: Serve with a side of spicy mango chutney or cilantro lime sauce for added flavor.
